The assignment for week 21 is ‘Loved Ones’. Here’s Caroline in The Dome, a swanky cocktail bar in Edinburgh.
I had to play with the light balance, as the original raw file was very orange.

I was away from home and my pc. This photograph was taken using my camera, and processed on my mobile phone using Snapseed.
For this week’s challenge, I decided to try something with some coloured pencils. I spent some time arranging the pencils at a 45 degree angle so that the mirroring would produce squares. After the mirroring, I decided on a letterbox crop and rotated the image slightly. Then tweaks to exposure, colours, saturation etc.
The subject of this week’s challenge is “Red”. Essentially I have enhanced the red in this image.
This week’s challenge is to great a ‘dreamscape’ image. This involves taking the same photograph, superimposing one copy over another and blurring the base layer, then adjusting colours and other things.
I took this photograph in St Barnabas churchyard at 7am today.
This week’s assignment was to take a ‘golden hour’ photograph, just after sunrise or around sunset. The week has been mostly overcast, but I did see this light in the birch trees in front of my study window as I was working one evening.
This afternoon I sat on a chair in the garden, waiting for the birds to come. Here are 6 – I took loads of photos of the blackbird. The blue tits were very hard to catch – they move very quickly and were hiding amongst the branches of the damson tree. Click on a photo to view it larger and see the gallery.
The challenge this week is “selective colour” – converting a photograph to black and white, but making one colour stand out.
We have a small display case of butterflies collected in the Amazon in the 1930s. This poor chap looks very muted, but I have made the blues and greens really pop.
This week’s challenge is to make a composite image. I took these 2 yesterday morning – some of my photography books, using the zoom/ICM* technique, overlaid with a desaturated image of raindrops on a bathroom window.
I missed week 12, which was to revisit one of the earlier challenges.
