For this week’s challenge, I decided to try something with some coloured pencils. I spent some time arranging the pencils at a 45 degree angle so that the mirroring would produce squares. After the mirroring, I decided on a letterbox crop and rotated the image slightly. Then tweaks to exposure, colours, saturation etc.

Selective colour – week 15
The challenge this week is “selective colour” – converting a photograph to black and white, but making one colour stand out.
We have a small display case of butterflies collected in the Amazon in the 1930s. This poor chap looks very muted, but I have made the blues and greens really pop.

We found a dead dragonfly – undamaged, but dead. I have kept it for photography. Here’s a first quick shot.
Yes, it is a photograph. A very small detail of an everyday (in my house!) object.
These eggs are about 1mm tall. We found them on the underside of a rocket (arugula) leaf in the vegetable patch. We think they were laid by a cabbage white butterfly.
